and career. Yet, for the longest time, it felt like a paradox. In
the world of business, “liberation” seemed like a luxury, and
“welfare” was often a footnote in an annual CSR report. Like so
many leaders I have met and coached, I found myself trapped on
a hamster wheel—chasing success defined by others, managing
endless crises, and feeling the quiet, persistent ache of burnout. I
was leading, but I was not free. I was providing for others, but I
questioned if I was truly contributing to their welfare.
This book was born from that ache. It is the map of a journey I never intended to take but now cannot imagine having
missed. It is the synthesis of decades of navigating the pressures
of the corporate world and a lifelong spiritual quest for meaning.
I wrote it for the leader I once was: overworked, overwhelmed,
and wondering if there had to be a better way.
That “better way” is not a simple hack or a new management
fad. It is a homecoming. It is a return to the most robust and
complete framework for human aspiration ever devised: the
ancient Indian philosophy of Purushartha—the four aims of
life. Dharma (Purpose), Artha (Prosperity), Kama (Joy), and
Moksha (Liberation).
This book is my attempt to translate this timeless wisdom into a
practical, actionable operating system for the modern leader. We will
journey together through fourteen chapters that move from the inner world of self-mastery to the outer world of global impact.
